What You Need to Know About the Latest Microsoft Teams Updates
Microsoft is making significant changes to its Microsoft 365 and Teams licensing, aiming to streamline options and enhance flexibility. Effective from 1st April 2024, these changes will impact businesses outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland.
New Licensing Options:
- Microsoft 365 and Office 365 Without Teams: New suites without Teams will be available, offering greater flexibility for businesses.
- Standalone Microsoft Teams: A new standalone Enterprise SKU for Microsoft Teams will be introduced for those who need it separately.
Affected Suites:
- Enterprise Suites: Office 365 E1, E3, E5, and Microsoft 365 E3, E5 suites will be available without Teams for new subscribers. Existing customers can maintain their current plans or switch to the new suites upon renewal.
- Frontline and Business Suites: These suites will also be offered without Teams, with corresponding pricing adjustments.
Impact on Customers:
- Existing Customers: Current subscribers can continue with their existing plans, renew, upgrade, or switch to the new suites without Teams at the end of their contract term.
- New Customers: New customers will need to choose separate SKUs for Microsoft 365/Office 365 and Microsoft Teams Enterprise, allowing a more customised approach.
